ON THE ROAD

Okay folks. I have reached San Antonio! WAHOO. And it's a scorcher. It's in the 100's - Quite a change stepping off that plane after going to St. Paul, MN. I was in a sweatshirt there. Thank Heavens Mel ( www.authormelissaschroerder.com ) has air conditioning.

This week we will be starting a bit of a diluge on the blog posts as we travel across the South doing some booksignings and promotion. Both Mel and I are really looking forward to this trip - unlimited Coke access (IE THE DRINK, get your mind out of the gutter) and warm weather. We are hoping to scope the occassional hot man en route as well.

We'll be posting here and on Mel's blog www.melissaschroeder.blogspot.com as we go and keeping you all apprised of our progress.

See ya 'roud!

The Inhumanity of Humanity

Okay. Most of you, by this point now that I'm a geek and I generally embrace this side of my personality. I've never denied my sci-fi side. I've embraced it a little even with SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE FICTION. That said, last week was the SG1 (for those who don't watch tsk tsk tsk STARGATE 1) season finale. I was gone for Retreat, but my BIL (bless his heart) recorded it for me. I shall watch it soon. Tonight, however, was SGA (STARGATE ATLANTIS) and BATTLESTAR GALATICA's season finales.

Anxiously I awaited...

SGA (I promise no spoilers for my friends who get it a week later than those of us in the states)

I've really been getting worried about SGA. Gone was the banter adn the wit I'd so enjoyed. The characters were acting...well, out of character, and I was thinking this might be my last season watching. But these last two episodes of the season have redeemed the show for me. WELL DONE.

BSG

I have to take a deep breath on this one. BSG is the most depressingly brilliant show I've ever been addicted to. The writers/directors/actors are brilliant. They have managed to caputre every single emotion known and work it into their tightly woven storyline. I was old school BS (lol) and more than a little heistant when the series started, but the quickly won me over and I've been hooked. Literally. So tonight's finale--I don't want to ruin it or spoil it for those who haven't seen it, but it actually made me sick to my stomach and upset, because it's so dead-on, so accurate and so intense. It's well done, but it hurts my heart so badly to see the inhumanity of humanity. It hurts me worse to think that, no, to know that there are those actively desentitized to the brutality of life.

Needless to say, January cannot come quickly enough for next season.

This Weekend

I'm very excited about this weekend. The third weekend of September is always the CRW Annual Retreat. This year, the retreat has moved to a new location and we are all jazzed to try the new resort. However, we are mostly jazzed to have an informal gathering of writers who love, respect, and delve into the written word. We have classes, and just write sessions intersperced with some good old-fashioned brainstorming and catching up with friends.

I'll see you Tuesday!

This Weekend

As I told you all a little bit about this weekend and my being in Colorado for the Colorado Romance Writers, Inc monthly meeting, I thought I'd expound a bit more. I'm very excited about this weekend. We are having Mary O'Gara:
Join us September 10
ALL DAY WORKSHOP - Mary O'Gara - Is There a Psychic Character in Your Future?
How are psychic characters different? What do I have to know to make them seem real and work in my story? What kinds of trouble do they get into that "normal" people don't? What kinds of trouble do they avoid because of their gifts? What does it feel like to have natural gifts, and learn to use them? Why do psychics use cards and other tools? Are all psychics healers? Is there a difference? How do psychics get to work on missing persons and criminal cases?
Mary O'Gara, a professional psychic and a fellow writer from Albuquerque, NM, will answer those questions and more. She has been a working astrologer and psychic for 29 years and has been teaching classes in psychic development, tarot and astrology for 22 of those years.
Mary’s talk will include:
The physiology of psychic and intuitive gifts. Physical receptor areas in the body and what a psychic senses when using the four intuitive senses.
How to turn the psychic senses on and off at will.
Tools and toys psychics use to enhance and extend their abilities - or to allow them to detach from emotionally painful work. Mary will bring part of her own collection of tarot decks, crystals, pendulums, and other useful tools.
What it's like to be a psychic working on missing persons, murder, arson and other criminal cases - the good, the bad, and the humorous.
How to develop believable psychic characters and use them as either heroines or secondary characters in your own stories.
PLEASE NOTE: Continental breakfast will be available from the hotel for a small fee.

Posting Warning

The post about the HORSE LOVER is a great website, and I'd recommend that anyone who is a horse fiend check it out. I know nothing abotu the owner, but I did go to the site and check it out. HOWEVER, the other post something about a DOG (there is a link) this post is a credit house and I recommend you not check the link. I don't know if it's a scam or what. I have not found out how to delete the post yet, but I am working on it.

What a Month

Alright. So, my people (LMAO Just tickles me to say that) told me I really needed to post something.

Hmmm....something. Something? What?

Then I was listing what I had to do this month and they said - POST THAT...

September has already been a crazy month what with all of the world changes -- Many of us have been touched by Hurricane Katrina. We've lost loved ones. We've been scared for loved ones. We wonder how it will ever get better. Only with teamwork. That is the plain, simple, poignant answer we all need to understand. And while many people, both those with good hearts and those with bad, know this...there are those using the system. When you volunteer your time, money, and or energy please consider there are some unscrupulous folk out there who are trying to take advantage of the situation. Choose wisely. Some of the legit aide services are:

www.RedCross.org
www.WorldVision.org
www.SavetheChildren.org
www.networkforgood.org
www.salvationarmyusa.org

There are 9 more birthday's this month and 3 anniversaries.
This coming weekend I will be in Colorado for our September meeting, speaker Mary O'Gara. The weekend after that is CRW's Retreat, then the end of this month I will fly down to San Antonio, hook up with Melissa Schroeder and she and I will head to our booksingings in South Carolina and Florida.
